Foolish Forecast: Calling Mobile Telesystems
YAHOO
The Motley Fool - Ring, ring! Will somebody please pick up the phone? It's Mobile Telesystems (NYSE: MBT - News) on the line, calling with its Q4 and full-year 2005 earnings news. Problem is, I'm a late sleeper, and the news is due out at 6 a.m. EST on Monday. So I'm happy to go over where the company's been and where it seems to be headed right now ... but on Monday, like I said, will somebody else please get the phone?

Is It Magic?
YAHOO
The Motley Fool - Recently I had an opportunity to investigate three companies for the paparazzi-inclined investor. Adobe Systems (Nasdaq: ADBE - News), with its suite of photo-editing software, is one such enterprise that helps bring an average photo to life. Can it pull off the same magic on its newest first-quarter results?

Sears' Letter Shines
YAHOO
The Motley Fool - I'm a big fan of shareholder letters. Reading just a few from any company can tell you a lot about the company's management and how well they treat their shareholders. Warren Buffett's letters to shareholders are the gold standard, and having re-read some of the letters done by Kimco
Realty (NYSE: KIM - News) this week, I believe the REIT does an excellent job in this regard as well.

Beware of Revenue Sharing
YAHOO
The Motley Fool - Have you ever heard of a practice called "revenue sharing" by mutual fund companies and brokers? It might sound like a good thing -- it has the word "sharing" in it, after all, and we've all been told how nice it is to share. But the money being shared isn't being shared with you. It's actually your money, and it's being shared with others!

Bad News Day at Apple?
YAHOO
The Motley Fool - Lots of people have been predicting Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL - News) downfall from its long-held lofty highs, but iPod frenzy has continued unabated. On Tuesday, though, two pieces of news hit the wires that might give Apple fans reason to pause.

Dropped Call at Motorola?
YAHOO
The Motley Fool - Anybody who's been impressed by the Razr's edge might find it a double-edged sword at the moment. Some bad news about Motorola's (NYSE: MOT - News) most popular product hit the wires last week. Might a technical glitch in a smattering of its popular Razr mobile phones give a lot of consumers -- and investors -- a reason to hang up on the handset provider?

Social Networking Keeps it Reel
YAHOO
The Motley Fool - Earlier this month, social networking giant MySpace.com launched new sites for short films and video clips. MySpace Film is looking to duplicate the site's success as a hub for signed and unsigned music artists by giving pro and amateur filmmakers a platform to air their cinematic creations. The company is also promoting a Videos tab for users to upload homegrown and viral clips.

Apple: What's Up Steve's Sleeve?
YAHOO
The Motley Fool - Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL - News) CEO Steve Jobs turned 51 on Feb. 24. While the mercurial man behind the Macintosh may have received gifts last week, he's apparently poised to give the Apple faithful a few this Tuesday. Will the "fun new products" that Apple has promised to unveil at a Feb. 28 media event be more of the same, or will it be the next step in Apple's transformation from niche computer maker to mainstream home-entertainment company?

Marchex Marches On
YAHOO
The Motley Fool - Proving that there's more than one way to skim profits off the Internet, Marchex (Nasdaq: MCHX - News) came through with a solid quarter as it continues to monetize attractive domains through its local search, contextual marketing, and vertical networking efforts. Revenues soared by 97% to hit $29.8 million for the quarter, and earnings came in at $0.03 a share, a penny better than last year's fourth-quarter showing.

Foolish Forecast: Salesforce.com Calling
YAHOO
The Motley Fool - Daytraders, start your engines. One of the most overpriced companies on the market is set to report earnings. The company reports Q4 and full-year 2005 earnings tomorrow after the close.

Save $165,000 With Your IRA
YAHOO
The Motley Fool - Let's start with the basics. "IRA" is an abbreviation for "individual retirement arrangement" or "individual retirement account," depending on whom you ask. Now, did you know there are two different kinds of IRA? There's the traditional one, and there's the Roth IRA. Either one can serve you very well as you diligently sock money away for retirement.

Oracle Plays Both Sides
YAHOO
The Motley Fool - After making a variety of major acquisitions -- such as for Siebel and PeopleSoft -- Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL - News) is focusing on smaller deals. However, it is a mistake to think these deals are immaterial. In fact, Oracle's recent deals show how the company uses acquisitions to be strong on both defense and offense.

Google's Wi-Fi Nation
YAHOO
The Motley Fool - FON, a privately held company based in Spain, has a lofty vision; that is, it wants to provide Wi-Fi access to the world. Impossible? Well, maybe not. Now, the company has the help of some heavy hitters -- such as Google (Nasdaq: GOOG - News) and eBay's (Nasdaq: EBAY - News) Skype -- in the form of a Series A investment of $21.7 million.

Soggy Performance for Wendy's
YAHOO
The Motley Fool - In last month's "Burger Biz Brief," I highlighted several fronts that Wendy's (NYSE: WEN - News) was engaging in to get its enterprise into tip-top shape. Now with the release of its latest fourth-quarter results, we have more color available to flesh out the picture. And it's not all that pretty.

A Doggie Treat for Investors?
YAHOO
The Motley Fool - Some pet owners will do about anything for their hairy human, I mean, animal, friends. It is the human qualities of our furry companions that drive us to spend outrageous amounts of money on them -- buying everything from squeaky toys to indestructible balls. One enterprise cashing in -- while we cash out -- is Central Garden & Pet Company (Nasdaq: CENT - News). Its stock has risen fourfold over as many years, and a look at its latest results suggests business is still going strong.
